RAS Podcast News – Fellow Listener in Hospital

I just found out that my brother is in the hospital. I don’t get to see him very much, and when I do it is a real treat for me. He lives in New Mexico and I live in Washington. Brother in Hospital He is an avid listener to this podcast and has even shared a story. I want very much to be there for him, but for now emails and phone calls will have to do. I won’t tell you the details of his ailment, but I would ask for your thoughts and prayers for him. He is good man who has dedicated his life in God’s service and he needs our support now. His name is James, is in the hospital, and doing well. However, he is facing major life changing surgery.

Welcome to the 15th episode of the Horror Express. In this program Jason and I talk about the truth surrounding Haunted Dolls. Also, we have what I believe to be the scariest story to date. It is a creepy old time radio story that finds three young women facing a poltergeist. If that was not enough we have lots of questions and comments from you guys! Topic – Haunted Dolls

A haunted doll is a handmade or manufactured doll or stuffed animal that is reported to be cursed or possessed in some way. The earliest report of a haunted doll goes back to Ancient Egypt. The enemies of Ramses III attempted to use wax images of his likeness to bring about his death. The dolls used in this ritual were said to be living and would curse anyone who bore their resemblance.

New Website for the Horror Express

I am changing somethings around in the Ron’s Amazing Stories universe. The Horror Express Podcast is doing so well that I have decided to break it out as its own show. To begin this transition I have created a new website. The Horror Express website is http://horrorexpresspodcast.wordpress.com. This is the temporary domain name, but will always get you there even after we have a permanent one. Check it out, but remember it is still a work in progress.

The Horror Express and Dolls

On Ron’s Amazing Stories – The Blog, we talk the Horror Express and Dolls. It is quite something to say that because dolls are not a subject that I am well versed in. However, if you combine the Horror Express and dolls… well, then you have be referring to the haunted variety. So I am proud to say, “On the podcast this week Jason and I will present episode fifteen of the Horror Express. Our Topic for this time is Haunted Dolls.”

A doll or stuffed animal, that is claimed to be cursed or possessed in some way, is a Haunted Doll. The earliest report of a this goes back to Ancient Egypt where the enemies of Ramses III attempted to use wax images of his likeness to bring about his death. The dolls used in this ritual were said to be living and would curse anyone who bore their resemblance. The ancient Egypt Poppet, effigy and voodoo dolls are examples because of their long history of being used to place curses on people and, of course, their association with the occult.

Horror Express and Dolls Although haunted dolls or cursed objects in general have a long history, it is only within the last few hundred years that people have started cataloging specific haunted dolls. One of the most famous is Annabelle. She is a Raggedy Ann doll alleged to be haunted. The doll resides in a glass box at The Warren’s Occult Museum in Monroe, Connecticut. The doll’s story served as the inspiration for the films The Conjuring (2013), Annabelle (2014),Conjuring 2(2016), and the upcoming, Annabelle 2 (2017). Haunted dolls are even listed for sale on sites like Craigslist and eBay. Also, people have started making YouTube channels showing off their haunted dolls.

Whether you believe in this phenomenon or not the subject has a collected some impressive tales. Jason and tackle some of these stories and share them with you this week.

The Stories – we have two great stories for you to enjoy this week. The first comes in the form of a Five Minute mystery. For the second we have, The Troubadour, which is written by Robert A. W. Lowndes. This a strange but spirited science fiction story that is worth listening to. It is short, but has a message for us all.

A New Website for the RAS – I have created a new website for you to have a look at. It is completed, but I am not sure it will be the new home of Ron’s Amazing Stories. You can check it out here and tell me what you think. I would appreciate any feedback.

Spotlight – Kevin MacLeod Composer

On this edition of Ron’s Amazing Stories – The Blog, we throw the spotlight on composer and friend to the podcast, Kevin Macleod. Kevin has been the primary music provider to the show since 2011. He has a talent for creating music scores that fit every situation that this podcaster has been able to throw at him. Who is Kevin MacLeod? He is an American composer and music producer. He is probably best known for his distribution of royalty-free library music through his website, Incompetech.com. This licensing option allow anyone to use his music for free as long as he receives credit, which has led to his music being used in millions of YouTube videos and thousands of films.

But isn’t just the internet that uses Kevin’s talents. As of July 2016, he has over 2,300 composer credits listed on the Internet Movie Database alone. His music has been used in Hugo, several commercial video games, and by online content creators such as CollegeHumor, Good Mythical Morning, and many other popular YouTube channels.
