RAS #303 – Old Rambling House

On Ron’s Amazing Stories this week we have four astounding tales. A short-story from Frank Herbert, the author of the Dune Series of novels. We travel to Scotland Yard for a true crime story, and a listener tells us about his ghostly foster-grandmother. Add to that a Five Minute Mystery and you have what we call a podcast.

Our OTR Story – The Absent-Minded Professor

We have a true crime story all the way from England and Scotland Yard. It tells us of the intrigue surrounding secrets held by the British during the war.  It comes from the series The Secrets of Scotland Yard and is one of their early broadcasts.

Show:

On the nineteenth episode of The Horror Express, Jason and Ron are back together. We share the real-life story about a marionette’s hold on Horror Express listener, David Larsen. Also, we have a scary tale about pipe organs as told by Vincent Price. We will finish the show with questions and comments from you guys.  So, find your seat, turn in your ticket and enjoy this special episode.

DLs-MarionetteTopic – David Larsen’s Marionette

The topic of this train ride was first presented to Jason and Ron from listener David Larsen. He told the story of a strange marionette sent to him as a gift from his uncle in Afghanistan (pictured-right). He never knew why, but the little puppet gave David troubles and bad dreams. Ten years later the doll is sent to Jason and the investigation begins. This podcast tells that story!

OTR Story – Fugue in C-minor

Our OTR story comes from the series Suspense and was suggested by a listener, James Thompson of New Mexico. It stars two great actors Ida Lupino and Vincent Price. The story was written by the accomplished screenwriter Lucille Fletcher and tells a tale of pipe organs and murder.  It is called Fugue in C-minor and first aired on June 1, 1944.

MOS2017 – Ghost Stories With Sylvia Vol 3

Welcome to week three, “Part 2”,  of The Month of Spooky 2017!

I hope that you enjoyed Tuesday’s podcast because we are going continue with the Ghost Stories. Since ancient times, ghost stories?tales of spirits who return from the dead to haunt the places they left behind?have figured prominently in the folklore of many cultures around the world. A large amount of these tales seem to involve historical figures ranging from queens and politicians to writers and gangsters, most of whom died early, violent or mysterious deaths.

In 2014 I was introduced to whom I believe is the finest, funniest and best ghost storyteller there is. She has a way of making you feel fear and see the humor in that. Sylvia Shults has spent years in the pursuit of the weird and the strange. She now shares those experiences telling true ghost stories and has five books on the subject with a sixth due out this Christmas.

Her fifth book, 44 Years In Darkness, was the subject the last time she appeared on Ron’s Amazing Stories in 2016. On this episode, I will replay that interview with Sylvia. Then on Thursday (October 26), we will have a brand new episode of Ron’s Amazing Stories, which will feature all new stuff from Sylvia and myself.

Week 3 of the Month of Spooky 2017

Welcome to week three of The Month of Spooky 2017!

Do you love ghost stories? I love a good ghost story. In fact, I am in the process of collecting enough for my very own book. Ghost stories have a way of making us remember that we as humans need to be scared once in a while. What better way to do that than with a spooky story.

In 2014 I was introduced to whom I believe is the finest, funniest and best ghost storyteller there is. She has a way of making you feel fear and see the humor in that. Sylvia Shults has spent years in the pursuit of the weird and the strange. She now shares those experiences telling true ghost stories and has four books on the subject with a fifth due out this Christmas.

Her second book, Fractured Spirits, was the subject the first time she appeared on Ron’s Amazing Stories in 2014. That interview was so good and so fun that I have invited Sylvia back to the program every Halloween since. On this episode, I will re-play that first interview with Sylvia. Then on Thursday (October 19), we will have her visit to The Month Of Spooky 2016, and finally coming on Tuesday (October 24) with will have a brand new episode of Ron’s Amazing Stories, which will feature all new stuff from Sylvia and myself.

I hope that you enjoy this podcast with Sylvia and three that will follow.
