Week 3 of the Month of Spooky 2017

Welcome to week three of The Month of Spooky 2017!

Do you love ghost stories? I love a good ghost story. In fact, I am in the process of collecting enough for my very own book. Ghost stories have a way of making us remember that we as humans need to be scared once in a while. What better way to do that than with a spooky story.

In 2014 I was introduced to whom I believe is the finest, funniest and best ghost storyteller there is. She has a way of making you feel fear and see the humor in that. Sylvia Shults has spent years in the pursuit of the weird and the strange. She now shares those experiences telling true ghost stories and has four books on the subject with a fifth due out this Christmas.

Her second book, Fractured Spirits, was the subject the first time she appeared on Ron’s Amazing Stories in 2014. That interview was so good and so fun that I have invited Sylvia back to the program every Halloween since. On this episode, I will re-play that first interview with Sylvia. Then on Thursday (October 19), we will have her visit to The Month Of Spooky 2016, and finally coming on Tuesday (October 24) with will have a brand new episode of Ron’s Amazing Stories, which will feature all new stuff from Sylvia and myself.

I hope that you enjoy this podcast with Sylvia and three that will follow.

RAS #301 – Death Pays The Freight

We continue the Month of Spooky 2017 on Ron’s Amazing Stories with Episode 301. We have a lot of spooky stuff for you. We will hear a story about a mom who reads a Halloween tale to her daughter! The catch? Her daughter is in a coma. We have another listener’s tale about a ghostly visitor that just can’t be logically explained. Add to this an Inner Sanctum episode about a man who can’t escape justice. So let’s get started and press that play button.

Our OTR Story – Death Pays The Freight

Our story comes from The Inner Sanctum. The anthology series featured stories of mystery, terror, and suspense. It began in 1941 and ran to 1952. It is an extremely intelligent tale about a murder with paranormal side effects. It is called, Death Pays The Freight, and is a perfect tale for the Month Of Spooky 2017!  It first hit airwaves on October 5, 1952

RAS #300 – Old Time Horror VII

On this episode of Ron’s Amazing Stories we celebrate our 300th episode. Jim Harold joins us for some fun and discussion. Also, we have one of the scariest old time radio programs ever told in the history of the the golden age of radio.

Our OTR Story – The House on Old Man’s Bluff

Our OTR tale comes from the classic horror series, The Hermit’s Cave. It is called, The House on Lost Man’s Bluff. This episode easily stands among the best and most disturbing haunted house stories from the golden age of radio. It tells of a man overtaken by a spirit and forced to return to the house on Old Man’s Bluff. It first aired on the Mutual Broadcasting Network in June of 1940. Please place your pacemakers in safe mode!

MOS2017 – The Thing On The Fourble Board

Welcome to the month of spooky 2017. This year is going to be a whole lot of scary with a total of nine podcasts during the month. We begin with my all time halloween favorite, The Thing on the fourble board, narrated by our friend/ghoul the Train Conductor.

OTR Story – The Thing on the Fourble Board

Our story for this special edition of the podcast comes from the series Quiet Please. It was a radio fantasy and horror program created by Wyllis Cooper and debuted June 8, 1947 on the Mutual Broadcasting System. We feature what I believe is their best program. The acting is off the charts, the sound is astounding and it is downright scary! What if we we could pull something up from the underground while drilling for oil? What would it be? It first aired on August 9, 1948.

HE #18 – The Whole Town is Sleeping

Welcome to the 18th episode of The Horror Express. In this edition we have some scary stories, Jason tells us all about Irma from his point of view, and we go over all of the events that are coming in the Month Of Spooky 2017. So settle into your seats and do watch out for the hellhounds.

Our OTR Story – The Whole Town is Sleeping

Our OTR tale comes from the masters of yarns, Suspense. It is told to us by two of the best radio actors of the time, William Conrad and Agnes Moorehead. It is a simple tale, one that could be happening right now, in any city across America. It is a frightening tale one quietly calculated to keep you in suspense. It is called, The Whole Town is Sleeping and first aired on August 31, 1958.

Programing Note: In the podcast I refer to Agnes Moorehead’s character on Bewitched as Amanda. In fact it was Endora. Thanks to listener Mike for catching that one.
