Arizona Lightning – A True Story

A few weeks ago, a listener to the podcast sent me an email. He said, he had a story that I might like, but he was neither a storyteller or a writer. I am always up for a good story, so I got him on the phone and listened. I am here to tell you that Jasen (with an E) is a great storyteller and that I plan to air it on the podcast this week. However, to whet your appetites here is an excerpt from his story in Jasen’s own words:

Arizona LightningI was driving between stations when I saw a flash of light. It was lightning, actual bolts spraying out from alone, isolated storm. I had never seen lightning like that before. I stared in awe. It looked like jewelry, some kind of tiara, on a mountain. I never knew that 4:00 am could be so beautiful. I never knew it could be so terrifying!” – Jasen from Carefree, Arizona (A real place – I checked).

Note: The picture comes from Jasen’s own camera and was taken that night. If you want to hear the whole story tune into the podcast this week!

Replay – The Horror Express #10

Let me say happy Thanksgiving (2017) to you and your families!

This time on Ron’s Amazing Stories we replay, The Horror Express – Psychic Bystander, to celebrate the season. Whenever I pick a podcast to replay, I try to follow a set criteria, but the truth of the matter is that there is only one question, “Is this an episode that I would want to listen to again?”

Hands down what I have for you is one of my favorites. It is episode ten of The Horror Express. My Co-Host Jason and I welcome to the train Louisa Oakley Green. She is a real gem and not a psychic, but her husband is! Just imagine the adventures that can lead to!

Program Note: The Horror Express Episode #10 first aired on November 26, 2015.

RAS #304 – August Heat

On Ron’s Amazing Stories the podcast we have a supernatural tale from Suspense that you will take you to the limit. Also, we have something special the involves both Baseball and Shakespeare. Add a short skit, a Five Minute Mystery and there you have, A podcast.

Our OTR Story – August Heat

Now that we are in the month of November I thought we would warm things up a bit by playing one from old-time radio’s masters of suspense, Suspense! Our story stars academy award winning actor, Ronald Colman, and comes from a hot summer’s day. An artist experiences a strange series of events that appears to signal a decidedly dark fate. It is based on a short story by W. F. Harvey, is called August Heat and first aired on May 31, 1945.

Program Note: You might want to stick around to the very end.  I’m just saying!

True or False with Ron’s Amazing Stories

Help WantedI have received a number of questions and comments and the most of you want to know two things: How are you doing? and How Can I help?.  I thought I would answer that question in a fun and exciting way (at least for me). Let’s play True or False with Ron’s Amazing Stories.

Q1 – Ron is down in bed suffering from Sciatica and is not able to walk.

False – I am up and around suffering sciatica. I don’t walk well, but the only way to get the offending nerve back into place is to stretch and walk a bit every day. I am getting better and little things like getting up in the morning is not a traumatic event. Thanks for all your comments and warm thoughts. They mean a lot.

Q2 – There is nothing you can do to help Ron’s Amazing Stories!

False – Very false, untrue even! You can help out the show by sending me your stories! Lately, I have seen a fall off in submitted tales. So if you have a story, I want to read it on the show, or better yet have you come on and tell it yourself. You can find out more about how I deal with your stories on a blog I wrote called Telling Our Stories.

Q3 –  I should submit reviews and comments about the shows I hear.

True – Yes you should! Reviews and comments on Ron’s Amazing Stories go a long way to get new listeners. You can do this in many ways: First, you can head to our Facebook Fan Page and make comments there. Also, leave reviews on the service you use to listen to the show. For example, if you use iTunes it takes just a second to click on the stars and leave a quick comment. Most services make it just as easy and it gets the job done. So, please consider doing a review today. It is very much appreciated.

Q4 – Ron’s does not take donations!

False – Heck ya I take donations to the show! All of the money donated goes directly into the support costs. These include server, website, software, and hardware costs. I currently pay these myself and any help would never be turned down. Ron’s Amazing Stories makes no profit. If I did I could not bring you some of the content that I do.

On Ron’s Amazing Stories this week we have four astounding tales. A short-story from Frank Herbert, the author of the Dune Series of novels. We travel to Scotland Yard for a true crime story, and a listener tells us about his ghostly foster-grandmother. Add to that a Five Minute Mystery and you have what we call a podcast.

Our OTR Story – The Absent-Minded Professor

We have a true crime story all the way from England and Scotland Yard. It tells us of the intrigue surrounding secrets held by the British during the war.  It comes from the series The Secrets of Scotland Yard and is one of their early broadcasts.
