On Ron’s Amazing Stories, we have a first in the history of the show! With the exception of a crazy Five Minute Mystery, all of our stories for this podcast came from you guys. We have two stories from Scotland and one from India. From Fairies to a scary woman in red, I think you are going to like this one.

On the podcast, we have a story about my Brother’s unexplainable trip to Scotland in the early 90s. Rosslyn Chapel was founded in 1446 as a place of worship and services continue to be held there today. Quick math should tell you that is 571 years. It was built by William St. Clair for his family. Rosslyn’s extraordinary architecture and carvings have inspired for generations and It is a popular destination for visitors. You can read more about it on this week’s blog.

Preview: The Story of Rosslyn Chapel

On the podcast this week we have an amazing story that has its roots in a 15th-century chapel located at the village of Roslin, Midlothian, Scotland. It is told to us by a listener who has visited this amazing site many times. However, on an afternoon in the early nineties, his visit was anything but routine. Brownies, witches, fairies or just his imagination? You will have to listen to his tale and decide for yourself.

Rosslyn Chapel was founded on a small hill above Roslin Glen as a Catholic church in the mid-15th century. The chapel was founded by William Sinclair, First Earl of Caithness of the Scoto-Norman Sinclair family. Rosslyn Chapel is the third Sinclair place of worship at Roslin, the first being in Roslin Castle and the second which is now Roslin Cemetery. There are more than 110 carvings of “Green Men” in and around the chapel. They depict humanoid faces with greenery all around them, often growing out of their mouths. They are found in all areas of the chapel. Other carvings represent plants, including depictions of wheat, strawberries, and lilies.

Since the late 1980s, the chapel has also been featured in speculative theories concerning a connection of Freemasonry, the Knights Templar, and the Holy Grail. It was prominently featured in the 2003 bestselling novel The Da Vinci Code and its 2006 film adaptation.

The listener’s story is told about an afternoon spent at Rosslyn Chapel. The plan was to visit the site and enjoy the grounds. What actually happened is best left to him to explain. You won’t want to miss this podcast.

Our OTR Story – Trail Of The Werewolf

Our OTR story features a werewolf, a Yukon husky and mounted policeman. Do you have any idea what the series might be? If you guessed, Challenge of the Yukon, you would be right! The series was about Sergeant William Preston of the Northwest Mounted Police and his lead sled dog, Yukon King. Our Story comes from its ABC run and is titled the Trail Of The Werewolf. It first aired on April 14, 1949.

I am always up for a good story, so I got him on the phone and listened. I am here to tell you that Jasen (with an E) is a great storyteller and that his story headlines this Ron’s Amazing Stories.

Our OTR Story – Planet Zevious

Our OTR story for this week comes from the series Mysterious Traveler. It was written and directed by Robert Arthur and David Kogan on the Mutual Broadcasting System. The lonely sound of a distant locomotive heralded the arrival of the show and our story. It is called Planet Zevious, and its ending sent chills through this podcasters spine! It first aired on August 2, 1949.
