RAS #619 – The Heart Of Kali

On Ron’s Amazing Stories we have an odd set of stories from different genres. Ron reviews an audiobook from Zane Grey titled Riders of the Purple Sage (a classic western). Then we head to space for a science fiction adventure from the pages of the 1960s pulp mags. The story is titled Flamedown and is exciting! We end the show with our featured story from the OTR classic series Escape. In this one, one man’s greed leads to murder and in the end justice. It is titled The Heart Of Kali. So pres that play button and enjoy the show.

Featured Story – The Heart Of Kali

Art for Flame Down As Read by Johan G.

Our featured story comes from the OTR series Escape. Escape brings together everything that was good about old-time radio. The title itself almost sums up the very essence of what radio drama is all about. It was truly one of the best anthology series of the golden age of radio. Our story today is special in another way. All good things do come to end, eventually, and such was true of Escape. This story was the very last episode to air. It happened on September 5, 1954. It tells the story of a man whose passion gets the best of him, and as the saying goes, what goes around comes around. It is titled The Heart Of Kali.

Other Stories Include – Man In The Back Seat, Review – Riders Of The Purple Sage, Flame Down, and The Heart Of Kali

It Did What… To Spiderman?

Our Story comes from Joseph Brandbury of Essex, England. Joes sent this one in via the story submission page and also has posted it on Reddit. He has titled it, It Did What To… Spiderman.

Hello I’m Joe I’m 20 now, but at the time the events of this story happened I was around 10 (also ignore my crappy grammar). It was the winter of 2013 just before Christmas (maybe 2-3 weeks before) my sister Elly started noticing stuff moving but she thought – No biggie we have 3 cats that roam about at night. but it got weirder, she started seeing orbs flying around her room and objects were being moved to places cats could not move them to. So my mum, who knows about these things, managed to move these ghosts out of her room and we all thought it was over…. until it affected me.

It did what...to Spiderman?

It was kind of the same thing that happened to Elly but even worse because it moved my teddy bears while they were in my hand. I thought that it was my other sister Antonia. We all thought she was just trying to scare us. Then at night my TV started turning on by itself and tilting sideways, this repeated for around 3-4 days. Then it happened! While I was trying to sleep I noticed all my spider man posters started turning by themselves. My thought was,”I don’t wanna die like every teen in a horror movie does.” so I screamed as loud as I could and ran to my parents room. The whole family woke up. When we went back to my room all the posters were stuck on the wall by only 1 blue tack. The next day I burned them all and got new ones. This all continued and like before my Mum took care of it. Now we are all still waiting for it to happen again. Joseph Brandbury

Okay that is just scary. Also, I’m sure even Spiderman didn’t think much of it. This sounds like poltergeist activity. Was there any emotional stuff going on with your family at the time? Just a thought. Thank you Joe for sharing your story.

RAS #618 – Elizabeth The Doll

On Ron’s Amazing Stories this time we are telling the story of Elizabeth The Doll. Joining me are Emma Lynn Dowd and Sylvia Shults. Two of the most amazing people I have ever met. The doll came into my family’s life in 2005 and caused nothing but trouble. In the end I sent the creature to Emma in Florida to figure it out. Emma did solve part of the puzzle but not without experiencing troubles of her own. There are many twists and turns to be had – Bad dreams, whoaful luck, broken bones, and disembodied voices. What started as a new doll for a collection has ended up with more questions than answers. On the show this week Slyvia, Emma and I will give you at least a few of those answers.

Elizabeth The Doll

About Sylvia Shults:  Sylvia  is a Librarian, Author, and Ghost Hunter. She has spent a lifetime in the pursuit of the weird and strange. Her non-fiction works include Ghost of the Illinois River, Fractured Spirits, Fractured Souls, 44 Years in Darkness, The Spirits of Christmas, Days Of The Dead, and her latest release Grave Deeds and Dead Plots. RAS #617 – Cold Equations

Ron’s Amazing Stories is a captivating podcast that combines the love for audiobooks, storytelling, and listener submissions. In this episode, Ron shares his passion for mystery fiction, recommends a thrilling science fiction audiobook, and features listener-submitted adventure stories.

One of the highlights of the episode is Ron’s recommendation of The Downloaded by Robert J. Sawyer. Set in the year 2059, this science fiction audiobook takes listeners on a journey where survivors of a global cataclysm face the imminent threat of an asteroid collision. Ronald’s enthusiasm for this book is evident as he describes the immersive experience created by the narration and the innovative use of Dolby Atmos technology.

The podcast also showcases the power of storytelling through listener submissions. Ron shares a chilling tale of a doppelganger encounter, which was submitted by a dedicated listener. This segment allows the audience to become active participants in the podcast, fostering a sense of community and engagement.

Featured Story – Cold Equations

Cold Equations

Our featured story is a fascinating bit of science fiction. If you are familiar with the first space flights of the 1950’s you know just how important fuel conservation was. You were allowed so many burn-cycles before the mission was a failure. But what if the mission only allowed for failure? What if there was only enough fuel for one outcome and hundreds of lives depended on it? That is the premise of the tale Cold Equations. It first aired on X-Minus One in August of 1955.

Other Stories Include – Blood On My Hands, Review – The Downloaded, Why are you just standing there, That’s My Name, Cold Equations, and Johnny Is It True – Santiago
