RAS #375 – An Encounter While Biking

On Ron’s Amazing Stories we have a work of fiction sent in by Jose Munoz about a bike ride gone strange. We hear the final chapter of Second Variety by Philip K. Dick, and we have two ghost stories from you guys. Tom Williams is back with another Growing Up he calls Weekends and Old Cars. So grab a coffee and press that play button.

Featured Story – Second Variety

So far in our story, we know that the Americans have created self-replicating robots to fight the Russians for them. Also, that these robots have flipped the script and began making humanoid versions of themselves to fool their enemies. The Russians have taken many losses and are ready to work with the Americans to end the war. Is it too late? In this final chapter, we learn the truth.

The story is called Second Variety and was suggested to me by listener Mark Lopez a few months ago. It was first published in Space Science Fiction in the May of 1953 issue.

The News – April 2019

The numbers for February and March are in and we have seen a decrease in downloads. The individual show numbers seem unchanged, so I am looking into this and hope that it is just because of the shorter month. You can help the show by telling all of your friends to give Ron’s Amazing Stories a try. If you have any ideas on this subject or have suggestions to make the show better, please let me know. I am open to just about anything!

February (2019) = Down ~100 downloads per show
March (2019) = Down ~200 Downloads per show

UFO Update: We have received two more stories for the upcoming podcast. My Brother Jim has shocked me with a story that happened to him in 1957. Why was I shocked? I was not alive at the time and this is the first time I have ever heard this one. Crazy!  Jose Munoz has sent in a UFO/Loss Time Story for us. It is a chilling tale that ends in a Starbucks. I will keep you posted on my progress for this special podcast, but I do want more of your UFO stories. Also, if you have any suggestions for a UFO expert please let me know!

RAS #373 – High Point Trail

On Ron’s Amazing Stories this time we have another high-rise story from Herman, Sharon K. is back with a head-scratcher, and we hear a cryptid tale from North Carolina. Our featured story is part two of Second Variety written by Philip K. Dick.  Also, just for fun, we visit more OTR commercials from our past.

Featured Story – Second Variety Part Two – In part one of our story a Russian soldier is sent on a suicide mission to deliver a message to the Americans. He was killed by allied owned robots before he could deliver it. An American soldier was dispatched to check the body and to recover the note. It was a warning and a request for a high-level meeting. Major Hendricks was the closest official at hand and was sent out on his own to meet with his Russian counterpart.

Planning A Podcast

We Want You StoriesI get asked how I go about planning a podcast. People have said that there are so many elements to my show that it must take quite a bit of time to plan, organize and produce each week. The truth is I love doing it, but there is a trick. I do the show in segments.

A lot of what you hear is pre-recorded and stored so that all I have to do each week is to script the new material, record it, and overlay that with the saved stuff. After you have done this a few times it becomes almost like muscle memory. One of my favorite things to do is to create new segments. Finding the right music bed, sound effects and sound levels is “Geek Out Heaven” for me.

Another job I love to do is weekly art. That might be the most challenging part of the show. Selecting the art to use and doing the layouts so that they look good is something I look forward to each week. You might not know this, but I post a high-res version of the show art on the Facebook page each week for your enjoyment.

Thank You for Asking,

-Ron
