RAS #559 – Come Into My Parlor

On Ron’s Amazing Stories we have so much good stuff that I am not even sure it is legal (speaking metaphorically of course). What we have is legal and pretty good. We have three ghost stories from you guys, two classic science fiction stories, and a brand new Our Amazing Stories that looks at some astonishing women! So let’s get to this stuff by pressing that play button.

Featured Story – Come Into My Parlor

Come Into My Parlor

Our featured story this week is a strange tale that first appeared in Science Fiction Adventures Magazine in February of 1953. What we see is not always what there is to see. Sober or drunk, Johnny was seeing things. Like spider webs in the night sky. But as a newspaper reporter, Bennet had the job of keeping facts and fancies separate. He was good at that—too good! The story is titled Come Into My Parlor and was written by Charles E. Fritch. It is read for us by the Librivox veteran Dale Grothmann.

Other Stories Include – Clue In The Hand, Fairy Tale by Stephen King, Midnight Shuffles, More From Nana, Haunted BK, Come Into My Parlor, Our Amazing Stories – Amazing Women, and Survivors

RAS #558 – Nightfall And Other Stories

On Ron’s Amazing Stories it is all about Nightfall. I am talking about the classic SciFi story written by Isaac Asimov. We will hear the origins of the story, some thoughts about it, and the radio adaptation of it from the OTR series X-Minus One. We also have two new ghost stories from the listeners. A pool boy ghost leaves his hand prints behind and a headless woman roams Iroquois Park in Louisville, Kentucky. So press that play button and enjoy the show.

Featured Story – Nightfall

Isaac Azimov

Our featured story comes from our featured audiobook. It is the radio adaptation of Isaac Asimov’s Nightfall. It comes from the OTR series X-Minus One and truly does fire on all cylinders. But why? The answer is simple. The tale takes place on a planet where conditions are very different from those here on earth. In this one we are forced to imagine what life would be like with no night. Now on Earth there are no places like that. However, if you’re at the North or South Pole you can sort of experience it. But can you imagine a world that had no night at all? Then imagine the chaos that would ensue if suddenly the lights went out and you saw the stars for the very first time. That is what happens in Nightfall. It first aired on X-Minus One in December of 1955.

Other Stories Include – The Broken Window, Nightfall and Other Stories, Ghost In The Pool, The Night at Iroquois Park, and Nightfall by Isacc Azimov

RAS #556 – Born To Hang

On Ron’s Amazing Stories this time we are doing the western thing. Our featured story comes from the pen of John Meston and the tales of Gunsmoke. A man is hanged, but manages to survive. The rest is…. well amazing. We will also have one of my favorite stories. It comes from an anonymous emailer and tells a ghost story right out of the pages of the old west. So, let’s stop thinking about it and press that play button to enjoy the show.

Featured Story – Born To Hang

Born To Hang
Born To Hang

Our featured story comes from probably the greatest western series of all time. Not just on the radio but the television as well. Of course, we are talking about Gunsmoke. The series was special for many reasons, but probably the biggest is that it was the first adult western to make the grade. The show appeared on both radio and television from 1952 all the way until 1975. In fact the radio version lasted until 1960 and was one of the very last shows to be canceled from radio. Only Johnny Dollar continued on through 1961. Our story today comes from the last season of the show. It is titled Born to Hang and first aired on October 9, 1960.

Other Stories Include – Alibi In Red, The Texas Rangers: A Century of Frontier Defense, Stampede Mesa, and Born To Hang.

RAS #555 – Old And New

On Ron’s Amazing stories we present episode #555. This is one of those numbers that seem like a milestone to me. I have titled it Old And New. What I have done is taken stuff from old shows and gave them a face lift. I also created some new stuff like the story of the infamous Tunguska event in Siberia. I think you’re going to like it. So, press that play button and let’s find out.

Featured Story – Into Space

Into Space

Our featured story comes from the second issue of the classic science fiction pulp magazine, Astounding Stories of Super-Science. The tale is called Into Space, and appeared in issue 2 which was published in February, 1930. It is the story of man’s first satellite in space. Which, for the record, was totally unintentional. This is an amazing story and is read for us by Steven Bateman from Librivox.org.

Other Stories Include – Signal block, The Old Man, A Cleaning Horror, Reflections Of Me, The Swamp Orb, The infamous Tunguska, and Into Space.
