On this edition of Ron’s Amazing Stories – The Blog, we throw the spotlight on composer and friend to the podcast, Kevin Macleod. Kevin has been the primary music provider to the show since 2011. He has a talent for creating music scores that fit every situation that this podcaster has been able to throw at him. Everything from rock to oldies, and country to classical, Kevin has a title that fits the mood. The quality shines through on all of his works and you feel every emotion that he sets out to convey.
Who is Kevin MacLeod? He is an American composer and music producer. He is probably best known for his distribution of royalty-free library music through his website, Incompetech.com. MacLeod has made over 2,000 self-composed pieces of music available for download under the Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 license. This licensing option allow anyone to use his music for free as long as he receives credit, which has led to his music being used in millions of YouTube videos and thousands of films.
But isn’t just the internet that uses Kevin’s talents. As of July 2016, he has over 2,300 composer credits listed on the Internet Movie Database alone. His music has been used in Hugo, several commercial video games, and by online content creators such as CollegeHumor, Good Mythical Morning, and many other popular YouTube channels.
Kevin has made picking the music for your show or project amazingly simple. Just head to his main website Incompetech.com, search the soundbites by mood and start clicking. Samples of every song is available. Once you find the one you like, you can download it. Want to know more about how Creative Commons Licensing works? Click Here.
There is a reason why I use Kevin’s work at Ron’s Amazing Stories, and it has nothing to do with it being free. It has everything to do with being consistently good and of impeccable quality. It is obvious to anyone, that Kevin puts his heart into every track he makes and because of this he will always be one of the best composers, that it is my pleasure to know. Thank-you Kevin!
