Our OTR Story – Mountain Central Railroad

This week I promised a western story and we have something completely new to Ron’s Amazing Stories. I came upon a gem of a show from the 40s called “Hawk Larabee”. At first, I thought it was a juvenile western, but the more I listened more I was convinced that it was actually aimed at adults. This western adventure is set in 1840s Texas. The series tells stories of the men and women in the colorful drama of the American West. Our tale is called Mountain Central Railroad and it first aired on July 18, 1947.

Program Note: On this podcast, I announced that the show is on the radio at 9pm Pacific Time. This was incorrect. Ron’s Amazing Stories is on every Sunday night at 8pm Pacific Time. Oops…can you say retraction?

The News – March of 2018

RAS on the Radio

The radio edition of Ron’s Amazing Stories has moved. We can now be heard on Sunday nights at 9pm Pacific time. At first glance, this may seem to be a setback. However, our show has been picked to be the kick-off program for a full slate of Old Time Radio programs. In other words, we are the headliner! I have been thinking about making some changes to the radio show and leaning heavier on OTR material there. Then I would use more listener stories and others on the podcast. My idea would be to advertise the podcast on the radio show. I am thinking that this might increase the numbers of the podcast listeners since the two would no longer be same. I have not talked this over with my radio producer yet and I sure would like to hear your feedback on this. You can leave your comments on Facebook or at ronsmazingstories.com.

The question of the Month

I have received a number emails about Ron’s Amazing Stories – The Archives. There seems to be some confusion about what they are. It is quite simple: Shows 1 through 100 are in the archives. Everything from show 101 to current is at ronsamazingstories.com. What I did was donate the first 100 shows to the public domain. If you want to visit the archives head to the main website and click the banner or head to archive.org and search for Ron’s Amazing Stories. This will give you the humble beginnings of the podcast.
