RAS #544 - The Radium Girls
“Devil,” he said and dug his cigarette into the other’s face.

Our featured story this time is read for us by Kevin Krody. Kevin is one of many readers they have over at librivox.org. The story is titled Signal Red and was first published in Planet Stories, Fall of 1949. It was written by Henry Guth. This one was ahead of its time. It reads as well today as it did back in 1949. They tried to stop him. Earth Flight 21 was a suicide run, a coffin ship, they told him. Uranian death awaits them in the space lanes. But the old man, Shano, already knew that this was his last ride. This is a heart pounding ride into the deepest space!

Other Stories Include – Command Performance, Firefly: Big Damn Hero, The Haunting on Rattlesnake Road, UFO’s Are Not Limited To Arizona, Our Amazing Stories – The Radium Girls, and Signal Red

Program Links: On the show Ron mentioned the book The Radium Girls by Kate Moore. You can find the book here at Amazon or here on Audible

Then we play an episode from the classic radio series The Shadow, which has one amazing ending. We will end with a brand new Johnny Is It True – Did You Know Edition. Featured Story – The Case Of The Three Frightened Policemen

Our featured story for this time comes from the classic radio series The Shadow. The title alone should make you want to listen. The Case Of The Three Frightened Policemen. This is a really good story and lends more to the original concept of The Shadow, which is the man about town sworn to protect the little guy. In this episode The Shadow is played by William Johnstone who happens to be my favorite with Orson Welles as a close second. The Case Of The Three Frightened Policemen first aired on November 16, 1941.

Other Stories Include – The Masquerade, Artemis, Disappearing White Ghost Legs, The Case Of The Three Frightened Policemen, and Johnny Is It True – Did you Know.

RAS #542 – The Eyes Have It

On Ron’s Amazing Stories we have a lot of stuff. In fact there are eight segments worth. We have three brand new ghost stories from you guys that include a visit from grandpa, and two shadow creatures. Then we have a new segment called, How Do I do That.?  In this first one we talk about how I go about restoring old time radio shows. We head to the great Northwest for an episode of Challenge Of The Yukon. King spots a murder and then must track down the killer. We end the show with a Philip K Dick classic titled The Eye’s Have It. So if you haven’t already …press that play button.

Featured Story – The Eyes Have It

Our featured story was written by Philip K. Dick.  We have had stories by this author dating back to Episode 62 when we first heard the short story, Beyond Lies the Wub (A true classic). This time our tale is titled The Eye’s Have It. It was first published in the magazine Science Fiction Stories in March, 1953. In this short Phillip takes a humorous look at writers and their perceptions. Ask yourself this: What if we took everything that was said literally? Well, what you would have would sound like this story.

Other Stories Include – The Fortune Teller, Pete Townshend: Somebody Saved Me,  Grandpa, Is That You?, But I saw It, Shadows Everywhere, How Do I Do That – Saved Recordings, King Spots Murder, and The Eye’s Have It.
