Replay – The Boy In The Basement

On Ron’s Amazing Stories this week we pretty much dedicate the entire show to one story, The Boy In The Basement. It was written by Sylvia Shults and is in fact her true encounter with Christopher, who just happens to be a spirit. Featured Story – The Boy In The Basement

This story is featured in the book Fractured Souls: More Hauntings at the Peoria State Hospital. The book was written by our very own Sylvia Shults. The Peoria State Hospital was once the finest facility in the world for the care of the mentally ill. The asylum closed its doors in 1973, but the hilltop remains active to this day. Instead of the conversations of patients and the squeak of nurses’ shoes, the halls now echo with the beeps of K2 meters and the hiss of spirit boxes. It’s still a busy place, and for the spirits of many of its patients, it is still home.

RAS #549 – The Submarine Caves

On Ron’s Amazing Stories we have three great stories from the listeners that feature a residual haunting, A ghost named Gary, and one from Essex, England. Our featured story is a good one from the case files of Sherlock Holmes. Then we end the show with something Ron calls, The Tootsie Roll Incident.

Featured Story – The Submarine Cave

Our featured story comes from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes. It is from the OTR series The New Adventures of Sherlock Holmes starring Basil Rathbone. Sherlock finds himself at odds with butter (Yes, I said butter). The story is titled The Submarine Caves which is odd because there are no submarines in the story. Confused? You won’t be after you hear this one. It first aired on March 4, 1946.

RAS #548 – Target One

On Ron’s Amazing Stories we travel through time to kill the great Albert Einstein. We have a story from listener Brett about his encounter with some strange orb creatures. Also, Professor C. Cydwick Ohms tells us all about his one way time-door. (That one is read for us by Justin Daniels). Featured Story – Target One

Our featured story comes from the OTR series X-minus One and is titled Target One. It first appeared in Galaxy Magazine and was written by Frederik Pohl. In the 1950’s science fiction was plagued with stories about moving through time. There were two main theories: Even if you were to travel through time you would not be able to change the future and second it would be possible to change the future, but fate would find a way to reestablish the timeline. What do you think? Today’s story just might help you decide. It is titled Target One and it first aired on December, 26, 1957.

RAS #547 – Lessons In Hauntings

On Ron’s Amazing Stories this time we are doing something totally different. What we have is a full hour plus of Ghost Stories With Sylvia. Sylvia and I take on and discuss all of the different types of hauntings and have stories or examples of each. On the show we cover: Poltergeist Activity, Residual Haunting Activity, Shadow People or Shadow Creatures Activity, Intelligent/Interactive Activity, Portal Hauntings, and The Crisis Haunt. This was a fun episode to create and I hope you enjoy it!

On the show Sylvia talks about the ghost of Chief Buffalo Child Long Lance and his appearance on the 1970s TV show Fantasy Island. I am still looking for that episode, but so far have come up empty.

RAS #546 – Spider

On Ron’s Amazing Stories we are full of monsters and cryptids. If that sounds scary. Quite frankly, it should. We have three listeners’ stories that range from a Thunderbird attack to a rock throwing Bigfoot. Our featured story is down right creepy. Our featured story comes from the OTR series Lights Out. One of the last frontiers in the world are some areas of the Amazon rain forests. In our story hunters deal with a monster out of the deepest depth of many a man’s nightmare. The tale is titled, quite simply, Spider and it first aired in 1938. However, the version we will play was a remake that Lights Out aired on May 18, 1943.
