Our featured story comes from the horror series Inner Sanctum. They had tales of mystery, terror, suspense, and of course the tongue-in-cheek introductions. The writing was fantastic and always brought chills with every broadcast. Our story is about a woman who faces the ghost of her dead husband that she may or may not have had a hand in his demise. RAS #608 – The Thing From The Sea

Our featured story comes from the old time radio archives of Dark Fantasy. This was a series dedicated to dealings with the unknown. It originated from radio station WKY, Oklahoma City, and it was written by Scott Bishop. Our story today is one of those. It is titled The Thing From The Sea. A newspaper reports on cinema star Philip Haywood vanishing from his private yacht. Where did he go? This one first aired in November of 1941.

RAS #607 – Invasion

On Ron’s Amazing Stories we are going to have some fun with science! I will review the audiobook A Grown-Up Guide to Planet Earth. Then it is Bigfoot week. We have three stories from you that are all about the big guy. We end the show with a story from the 1950s pulp magazine scene titled Invasion. If you were to judge this story by the title you might think that this is your typical alien conquering story. That is not what we have. This is a fresh look at an old story. Our featured story comes from the pages of Super-Science Fiction October edition 1958. For generations they had wandered about the universe looking for a planet on which to settle. And now at long last they seemed to have found a suitable home. But who owns this planet and what will it take to invade it? The story is titled Invasion and it was written by Arthur Bertram Chandler. It is expertly read for us by Dan Gurzynski.

Featured Story – The Man Who Stole A Planet

Our featured story for this week comes from the series Quiet Please. This is one of the more strange stories I have heard from the show. A man collects bodies in his freezer, but he is not a serial killer, or an evil man. Or is he? It is titled The Man Who Stole A Planet and it first aired on July 26, 1948.

Program Note: Our story today was in pretty sad shape. I have wanted it on the show in the past, but lacked the skill to restore it. However, I took another go at it and this is what I came up with. While far from perfect it can be followed. I highly recommend that you listen to it with headphones.

Featured Story – The Planet Zevius

Our featured story for this week is a true classic 1950’s style science fiction story. It comes from the OTR series The Mysterious Traveler. It was not known for science fiction, in fact it mostly played fantasy, straight crime dramas, mysteries and suspense. It was written and directed by Robert Arthur and David Kogan, and it began on the Mutual Broadcasting System in December of 1943. Our story is called The Planet Zevius. A ship is on a mission to explore the universe and the result is not what you might expect. It first aired on May 13,1950.
