T.A.Y.S. stands for These Are Your Stories
Our story today was sent in by Austin Sherman-Burke who writes to us from Los Angeles. He has titled this story, “But I saw It!”

When I was 10 years old I was sleeping over at my friend’s apartment in the same complex as me. It was a late summer night when I suddenly woke up not feeling good for some reason so I went to the window to breathe in some fresh air. I was thinking it was probably a nightmare that I just couldn’t remember which was weird because I always do… anyways, my friends were dead asleep in the same room as me and I’m at the window.
First I look around at the top of the trees, and then the sky. My eyes go down towards the street in front of me then I see a man dressed in black. I could see his red eyes staring up right at our window..staring at me. He’s not moving a finger just standing there looking at me. I woke up my friends telling them to look down at the street, which they immediately did. They all looked back at me like I was crazy saying that they couldn’t see anything and that there was no one down there. Mind you at this point I’m just crying and hysterically telling them that he’s right there right in front of them, but they couldn’t see him. They eventually went and woke their older brother who was 17 years old so that he could come and try to calm me down. After a while I did, but I never went back to sleep.
That was the end of it. I am 25 years old now and still live in LA. I never saw anything else after that. I am not schizophrenic at all. I had a shrink when I was 14 but that was for social anxiety because of moving so often. To this day I am quite confused about that night and what I really saw. Ron, I’m curious to know if anyone has experienced something like this? Have you heard stories like this before? – Austin Sherman-Burke
Well Austin, I can say that we have had many stories like this one on the show in the past. However, none of them have had a shadow that only they could see. That is a first. Some will say that the night can play tricks with the eye, however I am not sure that applies to this situation. There are many cases of people seeing things that only they see. Unfortunately, most of these are attributed to hallucinations. You did say that you may have had a bad dream. But it doesn’t make sense that the apparition would persist. I do know this. People find that telling their stories can be quite cathartic. I hope that is the case for you.
