Ron,
I love the show. I listen every Sunday night on 3KMGRADIO In Boulder, CO. (FM 100.7). I look forward to your witty comments and great stories. One night the wife and I were listening and she told me I should tell you our story. So, I hope you like it and I hope you share it.
I was camping with my family in the late 80’s. My two kids were very young at 3 and 6. We were on our way to California to meet up with my brother and his family and then head to Disneyland. Each night we stop, camp and each night we would have a relaxed dinner by the campfire. On our third night out we were traveling through New Mexico. It is beautiful there. Words can’t describe the desert at night. There is a peace that is very hard to explain. However, that peace was shattered.
My boy came running back to camp and yelled that he was being chased. My wife and I looked around and saw nothing. But he just pointed and said, “The Light!” Sure enough a pillar of soft yellow light just walked right into camp. It floated from place to place as if looking for something and then just faded away. We all saw it and we all felt it. By that I mean at the very same moment we all felt profoundly sad. Even the baby began to cry. That too faded and things returned to normal.
We went to bed that night, but none of us slept. What was it? Who was it? What was it looking for? I have no idea.
Thank you for your show,
JG Rathbone
