Take A Survey To Help Us Grow

I am working on making Ron’s Amazing Stories the best podcast it can be. Another way you can help me do that is to take a survey from Podtrac. Podtrac is a free service that helps podcasters to look at the number of downloads we receive and understand our demographic.

This free web-based survey has been expertly developed and analyzed by the audience research professionals at Podtrac, Mediamark Inc. (MRI), and Taylor Nelson Sofres (TNS). TNS is the largest custom research organization in the world. MRI is the country’s leading provider of magazine audience and multimedia research data for publishers, agencies, and advertisers.

The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete and will help me to better understand you.

Thank-You

-Ron

RAS #312 – Old Time UFOs

This time on Ron’s Amazing Stories we look at what the world thought about UFOs during the golden age of radio. We do this through the voice of Edward R. Murrow. Also, Tom Williams is back and he tells us a story that ties in quite well. We end the podcast with a tale that comes to us from an anonymous source. It could be the most amazing story we have ever had on the show.

Old Time UFOs – The Prequel

This week we had planned to present a new episode of The Horror Express. It was going to be on the current state of UFOs around us. Unfortunately, Jason, my co-host has had an accident and is suffering a concussion. The good news is that he is on the mend and from what he tells me is doing well. The bad news is that we had to postpone the show.

Old Time UFOsBecause of my interest in UFO’s, and having a ton of amazing material, I am working on a special podcast for this week. I am calling it, Old Time UFOs. Without saying too much, this show could be one of my best. It will include an old-time radio news report from the famous, Ed Murrow. He was a CBS newsman and I will tell you all about him on the podcast. We will have two listener stories; one from Berlin and the other was sent to us anonymously. It is a strange UFO story sent to us by Richard. Richard is not his real name nor is he from any place in the United States. I received a cryptic email several months back and it basically said this:

“I have a story I to want tell on your show, but I don’t want you to know where it came from or who sent it. I will write the story down to the best of my ability, but you should know that English is not my first language. If this were known outside my country it could cause trouble. You are welcome to interpret and use it as you want. I only ask that you assign it to the name Richard. Do you agree?”Richard

I sent a reply and many weeks later I finally got the story. I am not even close to doing it justice by saying it is amazing!  You will hear Richard’s tale on the podcast this week.

RAS #311 – The Lanceford House

On Ron’s Amazing Stories, we have a story rich environment. Jim Sweeney shares a set of scary tales from Vermont. Also, we present a classic horror tale from the South African radio series Beyond Midnight. Add to that, a history lesson from the Smithsonian about a stump, and a moment in time from February of 1880.

Our OTR Story – The Lanceford House

Our story comes from the South African Radio series Beyond Midnight. It was a horror anthology series that ran from 1968 to 1970 on Springbok Radio. The story uses minimal music and sound effects, but the actor does such an incredible job that somehow you don’t even realize it. It is called, The Lanceford House and first aired, in Africa, on January 24, 1969.

History Can Tell Us Stories

I am constantly doing research. Whether it’s for the podcast or doing my work as an editor; I am always on the web or my nose is in a book. One thing that I have learned from this is that history is a good teacher, and also a very good teller of tales.

Famous Civil War Tree StumpI grew up as a total junkie for history. There is so much to be said for an interest in it. Not only can you learn how things came to be, but it also tells us how to avoid the pitfalls of the past. It can be a marvelous adventure or a total downer. No matter what you gain from it, you can never lose.

On the podcast this week we have a very special, “As Read By” and it deals with that strange picture you see to the right. Is that stump? Well according to the Smithsonian Museum it is not just any stump. It is a stump with an interesting story and even more historical significance.

Want to know more? Please tune in to the podcast this week and hear this stump’s story.
