The Podcast This Week – 11/5/20

Rons Picture

Our featured story this week is a science fiction classic titled With Folded Hands by Jack Williamson. It first appeared in the July 1947 issue of Astounding Science Fiction. Williamson’s influence for this story was the aftermath of World War II and the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. His concern was that our technological creations, that we had developed with the best intentions, just might have disastrous consequences. The story was adapted to the radio by John Donkle and it first aired on the OTR series Dimension X on April 15, 1950.

Also, we have a special listener story from Silas and Katheren Greenley who now live in Vancouver, Washington. They will share their incredible UFO encounter that occurred near the Luke Air Force Base in Arizona.

RAS #463 – The Hallowed-Wheel Show

On Ron’s Amazing Stories this week we end the Month Of Spooky 2020 with a special Ghost Stories With Sylvia. Sylvia Shults is back and I think you are going to enjoy the result. If you are a fan of the Pitch Perfect movies then you will know what a Riff-Off is. Basically groups of singers spin a wheel to determine a topic and then they sing it. Sylvia and I will do much the same thing but using stories of the paranormal.

Program Note: Sylvia Shults is a Librarian, Author, and Ghost Hunter. She has spent a lifetime in the pursuit of the weird and strange. Her non-fiction works include Ghost of the Illinois River, Fractured Spirits, 44 Years in Darkness, Hunting Demons, The Spirits of Christmas, and her latest release Fractured Souls. All of her books are available on Amazon and you can find out more at her WordPress Home Page.

Program Links: During the show Sylvia spoke about a new story telling service called Vocal Media. You can find them at this link.

The Return of the Vampire

On Ron’s Amazing Stories this week we end the Month Of Spooky 2020 with a special Ghost Stories With Sylvia. Sylvia Shults is back and I think you are going to enjoy the result. If you are a fan of the Pitch Perfect movies then you will know what a Riff-Off is. Basically groups of singers spin a wheel to determine a topic and then they sing it. Sylvia and I will do much the same thing but using stories of the paranormal. But what happens if we don’t have a story to match the topic? Tune in this Thursday and find out.

Also on the show, Slyvia unveils her annual Halloween contest. She will tell a ghost story about a famous haunted hotel in Oregon and then ask a question about it. The first person to send in the correct answer will receive a copy of her new book, Days of The Dead – A Year of True Ghost stories.

So please tune in this Thursday,

-Ron

RAS #462 – Halloween Stories!

On Ron’s Amazing Stories we have seven different segments with four ghost stories from you guys. Our featured story comes from the pen of Virginia Woolf and then we will play another game of true or false with Johnny Is It True – The Halloween Edition. Berklie Apedaile, a listener from Smithfield, Utah has written a Halloween story for us and it is read by Mark Nelson. We end the show with Not So Important Times In History that sheds a little bit of light on The Vampires of New England.

Featured Story – A Haunted House
Our featured story this time is a classic from the pen of Virginia Woolf. Some might consider this tale a fluff piece and nothing more. It is short, only about 6 minutes long, but its beauty comes from what it doesn’t say. Listen carefully and I think you will get it. It is titled A Haunted House and is read for us by David Feterman.

RAS #461 – Month Of Spooky 2020 Special #3

On this special Ron’s Amazing Stories we head back into the archives of old time radio with another horror story. This time from the series The Hermit’s Cave. This episode easily stands among best and most disturbing haunted house stories from the golden age of radio. Car trouble forces a woman, her cold mannered husband, and her brother to spend the night in a deserted house with a macabre past. Again I challenge you to listen to this one with the lights out! The story is titled The House on Lost Man’s Bluff and first aired in June of 1937.
