The Dog and His Shadow

This story sent chills down my spine. It was sent in by Brian Shaw from Salem, Oregon. Brain has titled this very creepy story, The Dog and His Shadow. This one reminds me of an encounter  I once had at the park near my home a few years ago. I still haven’t quite gotten over that yet. Thank you Brain for sharing your story.

When I was younger I saw a shadow man standing in my front yard under the willow tree. It was dark out. I stared at him for a long time because I knew he would disappear when I looked away. Not sure how I knew that. He was wearing what looked like a cape or a trench coat and his collar was up. He had a dog. It looked pretty big, maybe fluffy even. I watched him for a really long time.

The Dog And His Shadow - A Story by Brain Shaw

The neighbor’s dog came over to the edge of their fence and started to bark. The shadow turned its head to look over where he was. Their dog went nuts and was about to lunge in that direction, but suddenly stopped and went back home. The shadow man put his hand on his dog and petted it. When it did this the dog looked right at me. His eyes were red! I screamed to my family without looking away. Everyone came out and looked at the spot, but saw nothing. My mother had me describe him and she started crying saying she saw the same thing before.

There was no way I wouldn’t have known she had seen him. She had always seen things that weren’t there. But this really scared her.  She said it has bad energy and the dog was pure evil. I couldn’t see his face but I had a gut feeling he was smiling at me. Finally, I looked away and when I turned back he was gone. I never saw him again, but my mother has. – Brian Shaw
