The Bigfoot Visit

Ike, who lives in Atlanta, sends us this Bigfoot tale. If this one doesn’t curl your toes you just might want to have them checked. Ike is currently serving in the army (Thank you for your service. It is an honor to have your story). I have heard that the Northern Mountains of Georgia are a hotbed for Bigfoot sightings. I guess this kind of proves it. Here is his email:

The Bigfoot Visit

Hello Ron, it took me a while to get up the courage to send you my story. I am currently in the Army and listen to the show on weekends. The story I am going to tell you has nothing to do with my current job. It happened to me while I was training at Fort Jackson.

My buddy and I are both from Atlanta and decided to travel home together during Christmas. My dad planned a late season hunting trip. We set up our camp along a river. As it happens we experienced one of the warmest hunting days in years, not shorts and tank top weather, but not the normal bitter cold that represents the mountains in December.  We were looking to bag us a deer before the end of the season.

That first night was just getting things set and having a fantastic dinner. Our tents were spaced about twenty yards apart. His tent was facing the front of the trail and mine and my Dad’s were butted against some blackberry bushes. Earlier that afternoon I  tried to get some game birds to fly into camp by throwing some bread chunks between the tents. No dice. Being a little tired from traveling we decided to turn in a little early and get a fresh start in the morning. Around 2:00 am I heard my buddy walking around camp, he walked behind my tent (between the blackberries), and finally stopped at the door to my tent. Just before asking him, “What’s up?” I heard snoring. It was coming from the tent some twenty yards away!

My heart began to beat at a rate I didn’t think was humanly possible. It felt like my chest was going to explode. I listened closely to the ground and I heard the ‘thing’ walk back over towards my buddies tent. It was quiet for a bit and then started moving again, stopping just about where my dad was camped.  I heard a splash at the river and at that moment I decided it was far enough away I might get a good look. I threw my tent open! flashlight blazing.

The fog was so thick I could barely see the river….but something was there, something tall enough that the four feet of water only came just above its knees. It ran deeper into the water and disappeared.

The next morning, I asked my buddy and dad if either of them got up last night and walked around camp. My buddy said “no… I thought that was you.” and my dad said,”no..that wasn’t me.”

I have no idea what I saw! I know it wasn’t a bear or anything like that because it stood on two feet and moved through the swift running river like it was a creek. BTW all of the bread chunks I had laid down were gone. – Ike

The Porch Ghost

Mike in Chicago sent this one a few years ago in response to a story that we had on the podcast. A woman was warned, by a ghost child, of a car that was going to hit the house. Sure enough later that night a car slammed into the bedroom wall. Because of the warning she had decided to sleep in her daughter’s room. Everyone was safe. I never actually read this on the show, but it is an amazing story.

The Porch Ghost

My grandfather told me this story about how one time he was sitting in a chair in front of the house, when he heard his wife repeatedly calling him from inside the house. The thing is, my grandmother passed away a few years before that. But he told me that the voice was so pressing that he actually got up to look inside the house, and as soon as he got inside he heard a loud crash behind him and turned around to see that the chair he has been sitting in moments ago had been crushed by the cast iron gutter that fell on it. If he hadn’t come inside the house he would have probably been seriously injured. I don’t know if it’s paranormal or not, but every time I think about it it sends chills down my spine. – Mike

On Ron’s Amazing Stories we don’t get many tales like these. I really think that more events like this happen all the time, but we tend to brush them off. Whether guardian angel or ghost does it really matter?

This Week’s Podcast:

On the show this week we have three of your stories; a UFO encounter in Arizona, a collection of tales from a haunted home, and one titled The Whitney Restaurant. Also, James suggests a story and reads it for us. It is titled An Incident On Route 12. You can listen to this podcast on Thursday at Ron’s Amazing Stories, download it from Apple Podcasts, stream it on Stitcher Radio or on the mobile version of Spotify. Do you prefer the radio? Night Knockers

This story was posted on the website by Darren Mince from Ontario, Canada. Darren has titled the story, Night Knockers.

Knck Knock!

Back when I was doing my 1st year surgical residency, after a 16 hr strenuous shift, I was tired and was desperate for sleep. I went to the Doctor’s lounge which was located next to a cardiac ICU which was on the 2nd floor of the building. The room was small with two barracks. Around 3 a.m I heard a knocking coming from the wall just adjacent to my bed. The knocks were so loud that it disturbed my sleep. This happens for three consecutive nights. I couldn’t tolerate it anymore and called security to see who was responsible. On hearing my problem, they were shocked and told me the room next to mine was a medical ward which had been closed for almost 15 years due to a fire accident. They went on to say that many people were trapped and perished in the fire. I went to check out the ward and sure enough it was locked down.

I got permission and with security in tow we went into the ward. The place was a burned shambled mess. I went to the wall that is shared with the doctor’s lounge and found places where it looked as if someone had tried to pound their way out. Other than that the place was empty.

I don’t know what happened but it could be said what I heard were those desperate souls, trapped in that ward, attempting to escape. Many doctors who have slept in the lounge have had similar experiences. From that day onwards whenever I pass from the 2nd floor lobby it gives me goosebumps. – Darren Mince

That is a story that makes you say. Hmmm. I think the thing that got me were the marks on the wall. That just sounds creepy. Thank you Darren for sharing your story.

The Voice

We have this email from Brenda in New England. She does not say exactly where, but from the email I gather she just might be a sports fan living in the Boston area.  Just a guess mind you!

Hi Ron, I have been scared to send in my story. I am not sure why, but here it is. I love three things, The Red Sox, The Patriots and ghost stories. Here is my favorite and I swear it is real, because it happened to me! Also, this is the story of how I found your show.

It was about a year ago now and I still shake every time I tell it. My friend asked me if I could house-sit her grandmother’s home. She was in the hospital for a few days. She had cracked a rib while chopping wood. As you might gather she is a tough old gal with grit enough for 12 men! She outlasted two husbands and will probably be alive long after I am gone. Her name is May (Like the month), is 85 and just over six feet tall. I of course agreed.

She had several cats and they needed to be fed. That is all I had to do. So, I moved in that day! The first thing that happened was creepy. All three cats were lined up facing the door as I walked in. They looked at me like I was toast or a nice smelly fish I am not sure. They did not move and sat there until I said, “Are you guys hungry?”

That broke the tension in the room and they all scrambled towards the kitchen. I fed them and sat down to get a bite to eat for myself. That was when event two took place. I heard a voice. It clearly said, “May?” I jumped up and started looking around the home. It was a two story place, 2 bedrooms upstairs, a living room and of course the kitchen. I found nothing! Except the radio was on in one of the bedrooms. I thought that was it, turned it off and started to go downstairs. Again came, “May?”

It does sound like a question? Scared, trembling and feeling like rabbiting out of there. I said, “In the hospital”

No response.

I sat down to watch TV and then realized that May had no TV. I grabbed my cell phone and called my friend. She said, “oh didn’t I tell you? May only listens to the radio.”

Great I thought, I had already used my data minutes and I realized this was going to be a long night. My friend promised to be my text buddy and that ended night one.

The next day I got up and went to work. I called my cell phone company and bought some additional data and was ready for a good night. I came in the door and sure enough the cats were lined up again. After dinner I lit a fire and settled into the most comfy looking chair, plugged my phone in and found a movie to watch.

I was watching my movie when I heard a “crash”. It came from upstairs. I thought one of the cats had done something and ran up the stairs. To my chagrin all three cats ran up with me. I said, “Dang, not the cats”.

When I arrived I saw that a vase was broken on the floor.  There is no reason for it to have fallen. I remember seeing it yesterday and it was well centered. I thought it had to be the cats. That is when the voice said, “May”

I screamed, the voice was right behind me! I turned and there stood a shadow of sorts I could see through it, but it was there. It was in the shape of a man who was slightly bent over. I screamed again and without thinking I ran right through it. I felt an impossible chill! I ran down the stairs, out the door and into the car. I drove home and never went back to that house again.

I swear that what I write is true. Although most people don’t believe me, I have stopped telling my story.  I have a new appreciation for the paranormal and that is how I found your podcast.  – Brenda

Was That A Monster

Our story is a scary one from Kristopher Evans in Newport. I don’t know for sure which Newport Kristopher is from, because there are so many! But, if I had to guess I would go with New York.

Hey Ron, thank you for the opportunity to share my strange story. I am a long-distance trucker, and I have been doing this for about 15 years now. I drive the really big rigs. Because of the size of the trucks most of my work is done at night. I used to pick up hitchhikers to help pass the time on the lonely roads. I now listen to podcasts like yours to do the same thing. Why? No more hitchhikers, and here is my story.

Was That A Monster

I was taking a load from New York to Santa Fe. This was a long trip even for me. I was on a lonely stretch of road somewhere in Oklahoma on Highway 44, when I spotted a hitchhiker. He wasn’t asking for a ride, he was just walking along the side of the road, and I was pretty bored so I decided to stop and pick the guy up. I pulled over and waited for him to catch up. He came all along the side and looked up at me. I rolled down the window and asked him if he needed a ride. He gladly accepted, ran around the front of the truck, and hopped in. The first thing I noticed about him, as he got in, was that he was clean. Very rare for hitchers this far from nowhere.

We had gone about 15 miles and I was regretting having him along because he was silent as a church mouse. Absolutely nothing came out of him. I was about to tell him, “Well, this is as far as I go”, when he spoke up.

“Where are you going, anyway?” He said

I decided not to tell him that I was on my way to Santa Fe, so I told him that I would be going as far as Elk City, Oklahoma. I remembered seeing that City on a road sign a few miles back. He replied, “Oh, I better get started then, that’s just a few miles away.”

At that moment a chill went through my body like I’ve never felt before. I literally felt like I was in danger and needed to do something fast so I said, “What do you need to do?”

“Just you never mind, keep driving, and you’ll find out!“ His voice had changed and it sounded evil.

“I’ll have no funny business”, I said, “This is not my first rodeo and you don’t want to deal with me!”

He became quiet again but I could hear him moving around nervously in his seat. It was then I heard the crack. I don’t know how else to describe it. It was not like a weapon click or anything like that. It was like bone breaking. I looked over at the man to see what the noise was and what I saw terrified me. his physical form was changing. I slammed on the brakes, managed to get it over to the side of the road, opened the door, and ran. All the while I felt like I was being chased.. until I didn’t. I was about 50 feet away from the truck when I glanced back and there was no one there. feeling stupid, I walked back to the truck and looked in the cab. The man was gone.

I wish that there was more to this story. I looked around for a bit and couldn’t find him. I looked in the truck and nothing was missing or out of place. I thoroughly searched the sleeper and found nothing out of the ordinary there either. I started up the truck and drove to the nearest bar I could find. To this day I no longer pick-up hitchhikers. – Kristopher Evans, Newport

What a crazy story Kristopher. Something right out of the annals of terror. I actually thought you reacted better than I would have, but it is my guess as a long distance trucker you have seen some pretty strange stuff. Thank you for sharing it!
