Featured Story – Chapter 2 of Anything You Can Do?

Two weeks ago we played the opening chapter of the book, Anything You Can Do, by Randall Garrett. This week we are going to play chapter two of that same book. For those who missed chapter one here is a quick synopsis:

We met a creature called a Nipe. His spaceship was struck by an object and damaged. He realized his only hope was to murder his brother and crash-land the ship on a distant planet. There he would have to wait until rescued or make other plans.

Our Marquee Story – Anything You Can do?

Our story is read by our guest Mark Nelson and is called “Anything You Can Do..” by Randall Garrett.

What we will play is the first chapter of the book, It really is a collection of stories told from various points of view. Its author Randall Garrett was an American science fiction and fantasy writer. He loved the science fiction magazines of the 1950s and 1960s and it showed his support with at least a hundred short stories, some of which we have played on the podcast.

Our OTR Story – Matt Gets It

Our OTR story comes from the series Gunsmoke. We will hear one of my all-time favorites and was the debut episode of the television series. In this one, a gunslinger goads people into showdowns. When he faces Matt he gets the upper hand nearly killing him. The story is called, Matt Gets It, and it first aired on the radio October 10, 1952.
