Featured Story – Earthmen Bearing Gifts

Our story is one that the scientists of today should take note of. While this is a very short tale it offers a word of warning that just can’t be ignored. While we explore we need to consider whether we should explore? The story is called Earthmen Bearing Gifts by Fredric Brown. It was first published in Galaxy magazine, in June of 1960.

RAS #385 – Zeritsky’s Law

On Ron’s Amazing Stories this week we have a bag full of cats. We have stories ranging from a ghost cat to cats that raise baby bunnies. We read a science fiction story that stars a frozen cat, and a debut a brand new edition of Johnny Is It True, which has cat facts.  Want more? Well as Ed Sullivan would say – We have a really big shoe

Featured Story – Zeritsky’s Law

We have a quirky story that I absolutely love. A deep-frozen cat comes back to life and spurs a new profiteering business. The tale first appeared Galaxy Science Fiction in the November 1951 edition. It is called Zeritsky’s Law by Ann Warren Griffith and is read for us by Peter Eastman from Cape Town, South Africa.

RAS #384 – The Moon Weed Part 2

On Ron’s Amazing Stories this time we play the conclusion to The Moon Weed by Harl Vincent. I read a story sent in from Price, Utah that warns, “Antiquers Beware!”, and Tom has another growing-up memory to wind up the show. Also, I answer the question, “Why?” Will I get it right? Listen to the show to find out.

Featured Story – The Moon Weed by Harl Vincent

Our featured story is called The Moon Weed. It first appeared in Astounding Stories #20 from August of 1931. This week we will hear the conclusion. In part one we met Carl Vanderventer, “Van” for short, who is a scientist that figured out a way to extract items from the moon with ray beams. He unwittingly brings seed pods back and unleashes an army of plant-beasts on the world. He now fights for earth’s very survival and against the tightening web of voracious carnivorous plants that seemingly can’t be killed.
