RAS #397 – The Next Logical Step

On Ron’s Amazing Stories this time we have six folks to help us out. Jackie has a question. Jeremy, Rita, and Killa all sent in creepy stories for us to enjoy. Then we have a cold war story with Ben Bova’s The Next Logical Step, and we end the show with Rosen and Cody teaming up with a tale about a dangerous ride in a 1956 Packard Sedan. Sound good?

Featured Story – The Next Logical Step

Our featured story this week comes from the pen of science fiction author Ben Bova and his story The Next Logical Step. It was written in 1962 during the heart of the cold war, and it appeared in the May edition of Analog Science Fact & Fiction. Ordinarily, the military would not want to have the others know the final details of their war plans. But logically, there might be a time where it could save the world.

Program Note: Killadollxx sent in a story this week where he/she references a picture of the West Lawn Pavilion. You can see that photo here.

RAS #396 – The Day The Earth Stood Still

On Ron’s Amazing Stories we don’t have tales this week, but rather a single story. This is something we’ve not done for a while. With the Labor Day holiday upon us, I thought, why not do it as we did back in the day, but on a much bigger scale. So, this week please enjoy the science fiction classic The Day The Earth Stood Still.

Featured Story – The Day The Earth Stood Still

So, what single story can take up an entire podcast? How about the classic LUX Radio Theater production, The Day the Earth Stood Still from January of 1954. Truly an American Classic! A UFO lands in Washington, D.C., bearing a message for Earth’s leaders. Klaatu has come on behalf of his world, who have been watching Cold War-era nuclear proliferation on Earth. But it is Klaatu’s soft-spoken robot Gort that presents a more immediate threat. A single mother and her son teach the world about peace and tolerance in this moral fable ousting the tanks and soldiers that greet the alien’s arrival.

RAS #395 – The Smiling Owl

On Ron’s Amazing Stories this week we board the Horror Express with Jason Dowd and talk about Time Travel. Also on the program, are two stories about Owls and a brand new Johnny is it True – The Dark Side Of The Moon.  So, grab your favorite beverage, sit back, and press that play button now.

Featured Story Is The Smiling Owl – We have a story called The Smiling Owl. It was recommended to me by Justin Suttles and comes from the website Creepypasta.com. They collect stories much like we do and are focused on the paranormal.

The Horror Express with Jason Dowd – On the Horror Train, Jason and Ron talk about time travel and answer a listener’s question about the place of religion. Also, we bring you up to date on what Jason and Ron are up to these days.

RAS #394 – Mister Mumbles

On Ron’s Amazing Stories this week Sylvia is back with more creepy stories for us, and we have a strange one about a little black puppy named Mister Mumbles. We then play a war story that has a happy ending, and we end the show with a scary one from If magazine, 1953. So, settle in for some amazing stories.

Featured Story – Mister Mumbles

Our featured tale comes to us from the website “as is” with no indication of where it came from or who wrote it. I checked it for plagiarism and didn’t find anything. It is titled Mister Mumbles and tells the tale of a possible monster in the puppies body.

Program Note: Sylvia Shults is a Librarian, Author, and Ghost Hunter. She has spent a lifetime in the pursuit of the weird and strange. Her non-fiction works include Ghost of the Illinois River, Fractured Spirits, 44 Years in Darkness, Hunting Demons and The Spirits of Christmas. All of her books are available on Amazon and you can find out more on her WordPress Home Page.

RAS #393 – These Are Your Stories II

On Ron’s Amazing Stories we are going to do something that we have never done before. We have a total of seven stories all from you guys. We have everything from bigfoot to time slips. We have a ghost at a museum, a cryptid who hitchhikes, and we even head to Yosemite National Park. Also, what show would be complete without a shadow. So, put on your favorite headphones and settle in for one heck of a ride.

Featured Story – These Are Your Stories
There is no featured story his week. This will be the first time we have ever done a complete show dedicated to your stories. On the show, we will have three brand new stories, which includes a creepy tale about a shaggy shadow beast, A real non-ghost story, and one from LBJ Lake, Texas. It is a tale of a 1950s time-slip that occurred in 1984. Then we reach back into the archives and play some of our favorite listeners submissions.
