RAS #441 – Second Sight

On Ron’s Amazing Stories we have three tales sent in by you that follow the theme of Angel Encounters. One of these is heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. I couldn’t stop with the angels so I created a brand new Johnny Is It True segment that tests your knowledge of the angel phenomenon. Our featured story comes from the pen of Doctor X from 1963 called Second Sight. This one has a twist that you won’t see coming. We end the show with some viral news from the fourteenth century.

Featured Story – Second Sight

Our feature story comes from the book titled The Counterfeit Man – More Science Fiction Stories by Alan E. Nourse in 1963. It was brought to my attention by listener Jodi Krangle. Jodi not only told me about this story, but also reads it for us, and she does an incredible job I might add. The story is about a girl struggling with her psychic gift and how she uses it.

RAS #440 – Strange New World

On Ron’s Amazing Stories this time we have an email from Mark, a kid named Zero-G, and a collection of listener’s ghost stories that all have the common thread of fire. We close the show with a classic from the golden age of radio called Strange New World. This tale is reminiscent of a story written by Jules Vern in 1875 called The Mysterious Island. The difference is it has a modern twist and takes place on the Bikini Islands. So press that play button and let’s go!

Featured Story – Strange New World

Our featured story is from the classic radio series Mysterious Traveler. Imagine yourself as a pilot forced to ditch your plane in tropical waters post-WWII. Not just anywhere, but a few miles off the coast of the Bikini Islands. Do you know that place? Well, you will after our story! It is titled Strange New World and first aired on February 12, 1952.

RAS #439 – The Past, Present, and Future

This time on Ron’s Amazing Stories it is all about the past (where we have been), the present (where we are ), and the future (Stuff coming your way).

The Past – I am a basketball fan and not to brag but I went to my first game with my brother when I was ten years old. One of my favorite players was Brian Grant. Brain played 12 years in the NBA as a power forward and was the heart and soul of the 1997-2000 Portland Trail Blazers. We have my interview with him that I recorded on February 7, 2012.

The Present – Stories are our present, but do all stories take part in the here and now. Not always. All of the stories for this show form a theme of sorts. They have time in common. Specifically lost time or lost in time. You will hear three brand new listener’s stories.

The Future – Jason Dowd joins me to talk about what has been going on with him, shares a story and we talk about a new segment coming your way in late June or early July. Tune in to find out more and take Jason’s doll challenge. If you dare.

About Jason Dowd – Art is a way of life for Jason. From an early age, he created various forms of artwork using various mediums, but none was as profound to him for his own work than photography. He finds inspiration wherever he goes because he keeps his eyes open for things that will make the perfect embellishment for a photo or looks for the story that inspires him to tell it to the world as only he can.

RAS #438 – Never Follow A Banjo Act

On Ron’s Amazing Stories we feature the banjo! Not music, but we have stories about it. Two listeners share their stories about paranormal experiences with the instrument and we have an OTR classic called, Never Follow A Banjo Act. We end the show with some classic commercials and it all begins with you pressing that play button.

Featured Story – Never Follow A Banjo Act

Our featured story for this week comes from the classic radio series Suspense. This is a strange little story about the shady side of nightclubbing and stars Ethel Merman as a lounge singer hired to keep an up and coming crooner on the straight and narrow. It is titled Never Follow A Banjo Act and first aired on February 1, 1954.
