RAS #556 – Born To Hang

On Ron’s Amazing Stories this time we are doing the western thing. Our featured story comes from the pen of John Meston and the tales of Gunsmoke. A man is hanged, but manages to survive. The rest is…. well amazing. We will also have one of my favorite stories. It comes from an anonymous emailer and tells a ghost story right out of the pages of the old west. So, let’s stop thinking about it and press that play button to enjoy the show.

Featured Story – Born To Hang

Born To Hang

Our featured story comes from probably the greatest western series of all time. Not just on the radio but the television as well. Of course, we are talking about Gunsmoke. The series was special for many reasons, but probably the biggest is that it was the first adult western to make the grade. The show appeared on both radio and television from 1952 all the way until 1975. In fact the radio version lasted until 1960 and was one of the very last shows to be canceled from radio. Only Johnny Dollar continued on through 1961. Our story today comes from the last season of the show. It is titled Born to Hang and first aired on October 9, 1960.

Other Stories Include – Alibi In Red, The Texas Rangers: A Century of Frontier Defense, Stampede Mesa, and Born To Hang.

RAS #555 – Old And New

On Ron’s Amazing stories we present episode #555. This is one of those numbers that seem like a milestone to me. I have titled it Old And New. What I have done is taken stuff from old shows and gave them a face lift. I also created some new stuff like the story of the infamous Tunguska event in Siberia. I think you’re going to like it. So, press that play button and let’s find out.

Featured Story – Into Space

Into Space

Our featured story comes from the second issue of the classic science fiction pulp magazine, Astounding Stories of Super-Science. The tale is called Into Space, and appeared in issue 2 which was published in February, 1930. It is the story of man’s first satellite in space. Which, for the record, was totally unintentional. This is an amazing story and is read for us by Steven Bateman from Librivox.org.

Other Stories Include – Signal block, The Old Man, A Cleaning Horror, Reflections Of Me, The Swamp Orb, The infamous Tunguska, and Into Space.

RAS #553 – Hell’s Dimension

On Ron’s Amazing Stories we have a tale that is a bit on the wild side of another dimension. It is titled Hell’s Dimension and for the record is not a place that you want to stay. Also, on the show, we review the audiobook collection The Chronicles Of Narnia, and I answer a question from Packer5214 that I have been waiting for someone to ask! So press that play button and let’s get started.

Featured Story – Hell’s Dimension

Our featured story comes from the April, 1931 edition of Astounding Magazine. I am constantly amazed at the stories they presented in the early years of this pulp mag and science fiction in general. This story truly is astounding in every way. Professor Lambert, deliberately ventures into a vibrational dimension to join his trapped fiancĂ©e. Do they escape? You’ll find out in the story titled Hell’s Dimension. It was written by Tom Curry and is read for us by Michael Harris.

Other Stories Include – The Shepard Murder, Review – Chronicles Of Narnia, and Hell’s Dimension

RAS #552 – Mr and Mrs Smith

On Ron’s Amazing Stories you are in for something different. On the show we have a visit from Alfred Hitchcock and have one of his classic stories. By the magic of the recording medium we have him on the show.  Also, we have two listener stories about ghosts that live in a closet. If that sounds strange, wait till you hear the stories. They are amazing. So, press that play button and hear the magic.

Featured Story –  Mr and Mrs Smith

Mr and Mrs Smith

Our featured story is quite the departure for us. We have an Alfred Hitchcock classic story that explores the deepest depths between a married couple. The suspense in this one is palpable and unrelenting..kind of. The story is titled Mr and Mrs Smith and was originally a 1941 movie produced and directed by Hitchcock. What we will hear is The Screen Directors Playhouse adaptation of the movie. It stars Robert Montgomery and first aired on January 30, 1941.

Other Stories Include – Murder In A Tomb, Dragons of Autumn Twilight, That’s My Dad, A Shadow In The Closet, and Mr. & Mrs. Smith
