Our featured story for this week comes from the OTR series The Screen Directors Playhouse. We will play the full hour radio adaption of Shadow of a Doubt. It’s a 1943 psychological thriller directed by Alfred Hitchcock, and originally starred Teresa Wright and Joseph Cotten. Our radio version follows the same plot, but stars the great actor Cary Grant playing the leading role. Is he a serial killer? This one has more twists and turns than I could count. It first aired on November 9, 1950.

RAS #603 – Joe Phy

On Ron’s Amazing Stories we break from the normal format just a bit. I was going through the archives and found a short I did a while back. I read through it and decided that it was pretty good and that it needed to make a return. It is from A Moment In Time Series I did in January of 2019. It takes you through four stories from a four month period during the year 1944. Also, on the show today we will play a classic western from the old time radio series GunSmoke.

Featured Story – Joe Phy

Our featured story comes from the OTR series Gunsmoke. The story we will play today comes from the third season of the series. Dillion goes to find a gunman in a town in which the sheriff is not what he seems. It is titled Joe Phy and first aired on August 9, 1954.

RAS #602 – Jaywalker

On Ron’s Amazing Stories we get back to the good stuff with all new content. We are going to review a brand new audiobook from the Star Trek Series: Strange New Worlds. Next up we have two listener stories from you, for you. Both follow the theme of unexplainable voices. Our featured story comes from the OTR series X-Minus One. It is a tale titled Jaywalker but it should have been titled, Things Not To Do With A Spaceship.

Our featured story is simply called, Jaywalker. We all know that a jaywalker is someone who walks across a street at a place where it is not allowed or without taking care to avoid the traffic. How does this relate to our story today? It takes jaywalking to a whole new level. What if space travel had a problem with jaywalkers? And what form would that take? The story first appeared in Galaxy Science Fiction, the December issue, 1950. The tag for this one was, CAUTION HAVE YOU PASSED YOUR PHYSICAL EXAMINATION? Avoiding It May Cost Your Life! What we will hear is from the OTR series X-Minus One and it uses the same title. It first aired on NBC on April 17, 1956.

RAS #600 – The 600th Show

This is #600 of Ron’s Amazing Stories. This time around I am going to just take it all in and say, man have I really done 600 podcasts. I think back to episode one of the show. It was not very good, and I didn’t have any idea of what I was doing or where it was all going to lead. But, here we are today and I have to say that I am happy with where it has all gone. There are so many people to thank that I won’t even try. Over the next few shows I hope to do that by bringing some of those folks back. Well see how that goes.

So what are we going to do on this show? We have an audiobook review of an audible original, three brand new stories sent in by you for you, a creepy tale suggested and read to us by James, and our featured story looks at the end of the world from a robot’s point of view. Featured Story – The Ultimate Experiment

Our featured story is one that we have had on the show before, but it remains a favorite. It is a fact that we all have a mortality date. But what about the human race? I think that it is pretty clear we humans have an expiration date as well. The question should be, what will we leave behind? Our story explores that idea and gives one plausible answer. It is titled The Ultimate Experiment written by Thornton Deky. It first appeared in Comet Magazine in July of 1941.

No living soul breathed upon the earth. Only robots, carrying on the last great order.
