Our featured story comes from the OTR series Screen Directors Playhouse. It is titled Yellow Sky and stars one of the most revered actors of old Hollywood, Greggory Peck. A pistol-packing tomboy and her grandfather discover a band of bank robbing bandits (Lead by Peck) looking to take refuge in their ghost town. This one has it all desert action, lost gold, a tribe of apaches, and of course adventure. Also, this one has some of the best Pabst Blue Ribbon beer commercials ever made.  It first aired July 15, 1947.

RAS #632 – The Lost Ship

On Ron’s Amazing Stories, we kick off the show with A Moment In Time, presented by Audible. We’re transported back to September 29, 1954, as the Indians and the Giants face off in game one of the World Series. Next, we delve into a creepy listener’s tale submitted by Faye. Our featured story is titled Alan Pinkerton and comes from the OTR series Cavalcade of America. The series documented historical events and was initially broadcast on radio from 1935 to 1953 on CBS. The story takes us back to a time of great turmoil and uncertainty, just before the outbreak of the American Civil War. Amidst the rising tensions, a plot to assassinate President-elect Abraham Lincoln was uncovered. Alan Pinkerton, then head of the Pinkerton National Detective Agency, was entrusted with the daunting task of protecting Lincoln’s life. It first aired on February 13, 1939.

This week we have a science fiction double feature. Our first story comes from IF Worlds of Science Fiction, March of 1954. It is titled Time Fuze and was written by the great author Randall Garrett. The ultradrive had just one slight drawback: it set up a shock wave that made suns explode. Our second story was written by Fredric Brown. It comes from Amazing Stories March of 1954 and is titled Keep Out.  With no more room left on Earth, and with Mars hanging up there empty of life, somebody hit on the plan of starting a colony on the Red Planet.
