The Survey Says!

Survey SaysI have been asking you over that past few weeks to help me by filling out a survey of just who you guys are. I thought it was high time that I gave you the results of your labors. I still need to add more data to this, but enough of you have responded to get an idea of what I can show prospective sponsors.

Before we get to the results many of you have expressed concern that if I start to take on sponsors it will change the podcast. It won’t be as free flowing because of the restrictions having to meet commercial requirements. I can promise you this will not happen. I could have long ago signed up for advertising. However, in most cases, you don’t get to pick the adds or even decide where they are placed. With a sponsor, I decide who they are and I create the spots. Two very different scenarios. The problem is that the second one is harder to pull off.

So having said this here are some of your results:

What is your age?
18-24 ……….6%
25-34 ……….18%
45-54 ……….24%
55-64 ……….18%
65+ …………35%

What is your gender?
Male ………..77%
Female ………24%

What is the highest level of education you have achieved?
Some college …..41%
2-year college …6%
4-year college …6%
Masters ……….41%
Doctoral ………6%

What is your employment status?
Full-time ……53%
Retired ……..35%
Other ……….12%

I still need more of you to take the podcast survey. This will really help me out and you will get a better product in the end. Thank you for listening and a big thank you to those 30 of you that have taken the time to fill out the survey.

-Ron

This is a classic science fiction story written by Randall Garrett and published in 1963. An alien crash lands on Earth, and for ten years terrorizes the planet. Earth’s only hope is Bart Stanton, a medically-engineered superman, designed for the sole purpose of confronting the Nipe.

In the story so far we met the Nipe and seen what he can do. We have also met Bart Stanton the superhuman whose job it is to stop him. In this episode, the detective is back and on this own adventure. How does this relate to the Nipe problem? We shall see!

The News – September 2018

It’s that time again to update you on the news from the world of Ron’s Amazing Stories. I want you to know what’s up, what’s coming and what projects have died.

Dead Projects:

The response to the new show format has been nothing short of, “WOW!”. You have said that you don’t miss the old time radio, and want to hear more listeners stories. Also, the reading of classic short-stories from our past is the way to go. I concur, and while I don’t promise to kill all the Old Time Radio, we will not lean on them as our bread and butter. Also, those of you on the radio side. I hear and obey. We will not be changing the format of that show in October. It will continue to be the same as the podcast.

New Projects:

In contrast to the dead project, I am working with a few people to bring back some old time radio. Jason Dowd and I are in the beginnings of working through this idea. To that end, I have created a script and David Larsen doing the same for two brand new 2018 editions of the 5 Minute Mystery. I have not heard from David on the progress of his story, but I am in the process of casting my script this week. Stay tuned for more information on this exciting new project.

October 16The October Month Of Spooky 2018:

This is becoming pretty exciting. Not only has Jim Harold signed up, Sylvia Shults has agreed and both are on the calendar for record dates. Also, P.I.O.T. will join in the fun and I am looking at one more surprise for the fabulous event. Will one month be enough to get all this in?

The RAS Survey:

I am looking to add a sponsor to pay the costs of servers and hardware. You can help with this by taking the “Listener Survey”.  It takes about five minutes to complete and asks questions about you, but requires no personal information. This information used to show to prospective sponsors my demographics. Please take a minute of your time to do this it would really help out a lot. If you have already taken the survey. Thank you so very much!

Hello And Welcome!

Hello and welcome to the podcast. This is Ron’s Amazing Stories, where we play tales to take you away from today. – Ronald Hood

One of the questions I get asked all of the time is, “Where did that opening come from?”

The Shadow KnowsI never really thought about it, but if I had to come up with a reason my answer would be… don’t all shows have one? I guess in fact they don’t, but in my humble opinion the good ones do. Take for example the phrase, “The Shadow Knows.” We all associate that with the famous radio series starring Orson Welles. How about, There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling transmission. That of course was from the Outer Limits anthology series.

I guess for me it is way of welcoming you home for an hour of entertainment. Starting the show the same way each week means you are ready to take your break and enjoy what I have to offer. It seems to work, because the comment I get the most is, I can’t wait to be taken away from today.

Thank you for all of your questions. It is a joy to be your podcast host!

-Ron
