The News – July 2019

It has been an eventful time here at Ron’s Amazing Stories.

We have opened Pandora’s box:

Pandora LogoRon’s Amazing Stories is now on Pandora. The music giant has opened its doors to podcasts. I signed up several months ago to be part of the beta release program but failed to make the cut. However, my service provider, Libsyn, Just informed me that our podcast was picked up and now can be heard there. This completes a project that I have been working on for a long time, which was to have the show on the major radio platforms. I called them the big 5. We are now on Tune In Radio, Stitcher Radio, iHeartRadio, Spotify and Pandora. I want to thank all of you that listen to the show on these services because you made this happen! If you listen to the show on Pandora please be sure to hit that thumbs up for Ron’s Amazing Stories.

Audible:

Audible LogoIn addition to the Pandora news, we are also been added to the Audible family. Each week on the blog I will make a recommendation of an audiobook from their huge library. Did you know that they have over 180,000 different titles to choose from? As you know I am a huge fan of short stories. My latest joy is, Can Such Things Be?, By Ambrose Bierce. Bierce was an American short story writer, journalist, poet, and Civil War veteran. The book contains twenty-four short stories in the typical Bierce tradition. They are ghostly, spooky, and best listened to in the dark. Can Such Things Be? was released in 1893, but don’t let the age fool you. The stories remind us that anything is possible, and at any time. You can have this book today! Audible is offering us a free audiobook and 30 days to give you the opportunity to check out their service. To download your free audiobook today go to audibletrial.com/ronsmazingstories.

This Week’s Podcast: On the podcast this week Sylvia Shults is back with another round of Ghost Stories With Sylvia.  This time we talk about Crystals and their uses. Also, on the show more of your stories and a few surprises. Featured Story – Earthmen Bearing Gifts

Our story is one that the scientists of today should take note of. While this is a very short tale it offers a word of warning that just can’t be ignored. While we explore we need to consider whether we should explore? The story is called Earthmen Bearing Gifts by Fredric Brown. It was first published in Galaxy magazine, in June of 1960.

Audible Joins The Family

Audible LogoWell, I have to say we have some pretty big news this week. I am very excited to tell you that Ron’s Amazing Stories has a brand new sponsor in Audible.Com. I have been trying to get them to sponsor the show since 2015. I have been rejected every time and was beginning to think that it would never happen. I tried again this past week and was given the green light to be a member of Audible’s Creators Affiliate Program.  What does this mean to you? I will be rolling out a campaign this next week, but my plan is to redo the featured story segment with Audible as the sponsor.

Now, what is Audible? Audible is the world’s largest seller and producer of audiobooks and other spoken-word entertainment. They have opened the world to us by producing quality books that you can listen to anywhere. They reinvented the media category and is the driving force behind today’s audio entertainment revolution.

I have been a member of Audible since the year 2000. The first book I ever bought from them was  The Greatest Science Fiction Stories of the 20th Century. I bought that on September 1st of 2000. At that time I was a commuter spending up to three hours a day driving to and from work. Audiobooks were my life. They helped pass the time and took me to places that I could only imagine.

So, do you want to get a jump on this new program? This week in the podcast show notes I will have a special link to Audible. Click on this link and you will have the opportunity to get a free audiobook and a month free of audible. Try it out to see if works for you and keep the book for taking a chance on it.

I  want you to know that I will not turn Ron’s Amazing Stories into an advertising event. But, I do have to pay the bills and the costs keep going up. While I love providing everything for free I can only do that if I take on a few sponsors to help me along the way. Your support and understanding are much appreciated.

-Ron

RAS #385 – Zeritsky’s Law

On Ron’s Amazing Stories this week we have a bag full of cats. We have stories ranging from a ghost cat to cats that raise baby bunnies. We read a science fiction story that stars a frozen cat, and a debut a brand new edition of Johnny Is It True, which has cat facts.  Want more? Well as Ed Sullivan would say – We have a really big shoe

Featured Story – Zeritsky’s Law

We have a quirky story that I absolutely love. A deep-frozen cat comes back to life and spurs a new profiteering business. The tale first appeared Galaxy Science Fiction in the November 1951 edition. It is called Zeritsky’s Law by Ann Warren Griffith and is read for us by Peter Eastman from Cape Town, South Africa.
