On Ron’s Amazing Stories this week we have one from the OTR series X-Minus One. It ran on NBC from 1955 to 1958. It truly was the greatest science fiction radio show of all time. If you think that’s Ron’s opinion, you would be right. The producers pulled ideas for the stories from the pages of Galaxy Science Fiction Magazine. Our story first appeared in May of 1955 and was written by Frederik Pohl. A tiny space rock crashes into the Terra II, causing a lot of damage and hurting the ship’s navigation system. Now, the crew is floating around in the middle of nowhere, possibly millions of light-years away from anything familiar. They need to do whatever it takes to stay alive. The story is titled The Map Makers and it first aired on X-Minus One on September 26, 1956.
