On Ron’s Amazing Stories this Thursday we have one of the last series to leave the air waves during the golden age of radio. Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar is a detective drama that aired for over twelve years. The show followed the cases of the man with the action-packed expense account. Johnny Dollar was portrayed by eight different actors during its run, with Bob Bailey being the most popular. The show was unique for not having a partner, assistant, or secretary for Johnny, and for its realistic portrayal of the insurance investigation industry. Characters would even mention hearing about Johnny’s cases on the radio, adding to the show’s credibility. Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar attracted top Hollywood writers and is considered one of the finest radio detective shows ever produced. The final episode aired in September, 1962.

Your's Trully Johnny Dollar

Our story is listed in the Radiobook Hall Of Fame as one of the top ten best of the series. A murder takes place in a small town, and Constable Jed Bramler can’t believe that anyone could kill the sweet Ellen Bates. There is an insurance payout waiting and Johnny is sent to find the truth. Is the husband guilty? The story is titled The Shady Lane Matter and it first aired, over five nights, from July 7th through 13th, 1956.
