Knck Knock!

Back when I was doing my 1st year surgical residency, after a 16 hr strenuous shift, I was tired and was desperate for sleep. I went to the Doctor’s lounge which was located next to a cardiac ICU which was on the 2nd floor of the building. The room was small with two barracks. Around 3 a.m I heard a knocking coming from the wall just adjacent to my bed. The knocks were so loud that it disturbed my sleep. This happens for three consecutive nights. I couldn’t tolerate it anymore and called security to see who was responsible. On hearing my problem, they were shocked and told me the room next to mine was a medical ward which had been closed for almost 15 years due to a fire accident. They went on to say that many people were trapped and perished in the fire. I went to check out the ward and sure enough it was locked down.

I got permission and with security in tow we went into the ward. The place was a burned shambled mess. I went to the wall that is shared with the doctor’s lounge and found places where it looked as if someone had tried to pound their way out. Other than that the place was empty.

I don’t know what happened but it could be said what I heard were those desperate souls, trapped in that ward, attempting to escape. Many doctors who have slept in the lounge have had similar experiences. From that day onwards whenever I pass from the 2nd floor lobby it gives me goosebumps. – Darren Mince

That is a story that makes you say. Hmmm. I think the thing that got me were the marks on the wall. That just sounds creepy. Thank you Darren for sharing your story.
